By day, they're just two students trying to get through class. By duty, they're agents of the Garuda Siam Initiative, fighting organized crime across Southeast Asia one mission at a time. Every operation hides behind a cover story, and keeping that cover intact is a mission of its own.
Somewhere near you, there might be an agent. The grandmother selling vegetables. The gardener trimming hedges outside a school. The vendor behind a food cart. Intelligence work does not always come with a suit and an earpiece, sometimes it looks exactly like everyday life.
Sari and Ploy live inside that idea. Students by cover, operatives by duty, moving through a Southeast Asia where danger hides behind ordinary routines, and ordinary routines sometimes hide something else entirely.
Sari, from Indonesia, and Ploy, from Thailand. Both lost their fathers to organized crime as children, a loss that left each of them with a deep, unshakable resolve to fight the world that took their fathers from them. Sari grew up on the streets, learning to fight before she learned to read, eventually forging a bond with one of the oldest and most guarded Pencak Silat lineages in the archipelago. Ploy trained in Muay Thai from the time she could walk, raised inside the discipline the way most kids are raised inside a language.
They were recruited by the Garuda Siam Initiative for one simple reason: their physical abilities are far beyond ordinary human limits, combat skill that surpasses even most trained field agents. G.S.I. doesn't get talent like this twice.
Together, they live in Jakarta, with Ploy posing as a Thai exchange student to explain her presence in the city. What neither of them advertises is that the school they attend sits directly above one of G.S.I.'s Jakarta branches, a full covert headquarters hidden beneath the ordinary rhythm of hallways and classrooms.
For their cover, they live as students. But their strength is committed to something larger, the protection of Southeast Asia itself. In exchange, both nations guarantee their lives and their futures for as long as they live, their mothers included. What G.S.I. asks for in return is everything they have to give.
Calm. Disciplined. Impossible to rattle. Sari notices danger before anyone else does, and says less than she knows. Her Pencak Silat looks like a dance, graceful, elegant, deliberate, until it isn't.
Behind the composure is someone who softens only for the people she trusts. Everyone else gets the quiet version of Sari, the one that's already three steps ahead.
Warm, loud, endlessly hungry, and nobody's fool. Ploy fights the way she lives, fast, explosive, all in. Her Muay Thai is brutal in a way that catches people off guard, especially the ones who underestimated her over a shared plate of food five minutes earlier.
She wears her emotions in the open, loves Indonesian food without apology, and more than once, her honesty has cut through a room faster than any punch she's thrown.
A covert bilateral agency built jointly by Indonesia and Thailand to fight organized crime across Southeast Asia, from trafficking networks to underground syndicates operating in the shadows of ordinary cities. G.S.I. exists because some threats move faster than any single nation's law enforcement can respond to alone.
Branches are spread across the region, each hidden inside a location no one would think twice about. The school where Sari and Ploy study is home to one of those branches, a full operational headquarters in Jakarta, built directly beneath the campus.
Part of what makes G.S.I. effective is who it recruits. Beyond trained agents, its ranks quietly include students, street vendors, housewives, and other ordinary faces woven into the everyday fabric of the cities they protect.
Nobody outside G.S.I. knows his real name or rank, just the Boss. Stern and unreadable, but the way he watches over Sari and Ploy hints at something softer underneath, a father figure to two girls who remind him of the daughter he once lost.
Sari and Ploy's field contact inside G.S.I. Based out of Garut and long overdue for retirement, but one important call after another keeps pulling him back in. Equal parts mentor and tease, always behind a wall of monitors with a cigarette in hand, and something like a best friend and older brother to them both.
One of G.S.I.'s senior ranks in Jakarta, reporting directly to the Boss. Calm, composed, and always in control. The one who shows up after a mission gets loud, making sure it disappears just as quietly, and just as efficiently.
G.S.I.’s most accomplished covert intelligence operative. Mamet slips into places no human agent can reach, transmitting everything through the miniature camera on his collar. He communicates only through meows, which Sari and Ploy somehow understand. Ploy spoils him. Sari calls him a menace. Beneath their constant rivalry, he has already become part of the family.
Damar may not be his real name. He moves between local criminal networks, collecting rumors and selling certainty to whoever benefits. Not a boss and not a fighter, his power lies entirely in what he knows. He has seen Sari and Ploy’s faces, studied their methods, and watched their legend spread. Nobody knows who he reports to, or whether he reports to anyone at all.
One of Banaspati’s highest-ranking commanders, Agni disappeared without explanation and was presumed dead, defected, or worse. Now she has returned without offering an answer, carrying mechanical fire in both arms and a contract for Sari and Ploy’s heads. She is not Banaspati’s leader, but few within the organization possess enough authority, history, or violence to question her.
